Buzzer won\'t turn off

Buzzer won't turn off-figured it out!!

Just finished replacing ignition switch on '89 560SEL and the key buzzer stays on constantly when the driver's door is open and no key in the ignition. Doesn't happen if the engine is running and everything else seems to be working fine. There is a buzzer wire on the side of the lock assembly, could I have put it on backward? would it be okay to disconnect the courtesy light switch in the door jamb, any problem with that until I need to pull the cluster for something else? Not so bad for in and out of the car, but it will drive me crazy if I need to do anything with the door open.
