84 500SEL stalls then restarts 20 sec. later
84 500 sel has been running great until recently. It now picks inopportune times to stall/die... then if I wait about twenty seconds it restarts and runs as normal. I have noticed a couple of times that the temp guage starts to rise just a bit over 80 before this happens. I don't know if this is related. Any ideas would be appreciated.
Thanks, Shawn |

I had a 84 380 sel that did that. I replaced the ignition distributor and that fixed it.

My old 1985 380SE did this... never did figure it out.

CIS_E W126
Mostly caused by ageing /worn-out fuel pump relay or a OVP relay .
Rising under-hood temperatures cause the relay solder joints to open up intermittently. Same for a Crank position sensor . A test of these should help in narrowing down the fault area. regards
