Question Anyone convert a W124 4Matic to non 4WD?

There's a clean '92 4Matic that needs pricey trans work so the owner is selling it. The body has minor damage but a very clean interior. I haven't studied the differences so anyone with experience, please offer some insights.

Thanks

Conversion requires a regular transmission & driveshaft from a donor 300E.

Front springs, at least, are very different.

I'd prefer to buy an original 2WD W124.

Cost will be more than the value of the car.

That is, not much less than fixing the 4WD that's already there.

In other words, this car is totalled.

I didn't save the car from being parted. I found the front crossmember, coils, and swaybar are unique to the 4matic. I know the front strut dampener and engine mounts are different. A standard crossmember would have to be welded in which is too much conversion work. While it may work the instrument panel has unique indicators as well.
