1992 300e fuse 1 blowing

Hi all,

92 300e 2.6 fuse 1 is blowing. Fuse 1 includes cigar lighter, glove box light, radio, rear window defroster, rear head rest release.

I have unhooked antenna, radio head unit, radio tuner, cigar lighter setup, and glove box light. I am still blowing the fuse. First time I replaced the fuse there was a strong electrical burn smell in trunk (I was hoping the antenna was the culprit).

Anyone got some other ideas. Oh and the windows stopped working when the fuse went out although I don't think they are on e same circuit so it seems odd.

Thanks!

The window/ sunroof control unit is beneath the rear seat, try unplugging its electrical connectors.

Thanks MB Doc. I will try that this evening. Is this control unit also known as the convenience control module under the drivers rear seat. Reason I ask is that I replaced this about six months ago as it was pinging a relay while the car was off and burning out the C fuse. replaced the control module and all was good. Figured I was dealing with something different due to the 1 fuse being the culprit.

Thanks!
