1 Year and $2k later
I have been having a killer time playing with my 93 300E 2.8. To summarize, it overheated about a year ago when it blew the head gasket into the number 6. Replaced the gasket but didn't know about the need for new bolts, so it started leaking again after 6k miles, so I put another on and new bolts this time. But the thing is, ever since it blew that first gasket and overheated, I have been having a hell of a time to get it to start once it has been already been run. And it doesn't have to be driven. 20 Seconds running, turn it off and it's a major pain to start back up. Let it sit for SEVERAL hours or overnight, and it starts instantly. Here is a quick list of what has been done/replaced in an attemp to restore/fix the car.
New Head Gasket and Bolts New Water Pump New Coolant Temp Sensor New Plugs New Wires New Coil Packs (all 3) New Cam Position Sensor New Cam Magnet New Injectors (all 6) 60psi at rai l- key on and running/cranking New OVP Rebuilt Throttle Body Cleaned Out Catilytic Converter (To make sure it wasn't clogged, will replace soon) 4-wire O2 Sensor ordered and on the way, but current one only has 5k miles on it, was put in couple months before headgasket blew Checked readings from the Crank Position Sensor and they are the same cold(when it does start) and run the car for 30 seconds, turned off and read again. Leaning towards HFM-SFI module (ECM) behind the battery may have a glitch on the board. When checking for codes all looks good and no errors come up, as if it believes there is nothing wrong. Its killing me. ![]() Any ideas on things I may be able to test? Would be awesome. |
