Try moving the left and right switches around and see if the problem follows. That will rule out the switch at the very least.

try this:

continue until the window reaches fully closed. then press the window CLOSE
button and hold it down for about 2-5 seconds. you should hear an oh-so-faint
click. this resets the window.

it should (hopefully) now allow express open/close, as well as momentary open
and close as long as you're holding down the button.

do i dare suggest removing the negative lead from the battery for a few minutes
and allow the electronics to reset? this occasionally lets the gremlins pass.
but you will likely need to re-enter the radio code, as well as reset any other
appliances with memory, e.g. seats, windows, mirror, etc. be sure you have
verified that radio code is available.

Might work, but if it was me i'd rather live with the passenger side window having an issue!! 99% of the time it would be a passenger who put it down...i say let the passenger figure out how to get it up.

Of course, my passenger is usually my son. Sometimes my wife (who just about never rolls down any windows). Those who have girlfriends to impress may think differently!!

I think that the regulator may be getting stuck. Tke the door panel off and make sure that the cable is aligned and that the regulator is fine, otherwise just leave it alone.........as long as it goes up and down you're fine, right? If there is a bigger problem its bound to happen regardless so if it ain't broken, I say leave it be, or be prepared to replace a possible $250 part.....but at least its only a 30-40 minute job.

Could simply be that the motor is wearing out. The earlier MBs use motor current as a way to check if there is something/someone stuck in the window. If the window is in auto up and there is an obstruction the motor has to draw more current to try and push the obstruction. Once motor current hits a certain point the auto up is disabled and the window stops. As your motor gets older it takes more and more current to just work as normal. Eventually you get to the point that you cannot use the window in automatic up.

The short term cheap fix is to take some silicone spray and spray the felt in the window tracks. This will allow the window to slide up easier so that the motor uses less current. Eventually you will have to replace the motor if you want to have the auto up feature.
