Curbill, I have a V-8 just as you. However the worst thing to do was to spray anything into your hot-wire air mass while the wire is hot/ignition turn to on. If the wire inside the MAF get damage/ break you can kiss that unit goodbye and buy a new air mass sensor.
You truly need to scan the codes to get a starting point. On the V-8 several things can cause your problem. Without the codes your are shooting in the wind and wasting time.
