w124 key will not turn
I wish I knew before i pulled the key out for the last time... that position 1 is necessary for removal of the tumbler.
A og key and tumbler on order. Will try new key in tumbler to see if this helps. I've read many of posts including the diesel giants link, but i have not came across a thread or link describing the posibility that the key may not turn? Does this mean a whole new assembly-- |

Primary, do a search on "ignition lock cylinder". This subject has been discussed numerous times so read all the threads.
Recommend using your old key in the ignition and use a vibratory tool to aid in turning the key to Position 1. Then insert the U-shaped wire to release/remove the lock cylinder.

if that is the first time it happened...you probably have one more turn to get it into position
it takes jiggling and moving the steering wheel..... i would be making the u-shaped tool now....and ordering a new cylinder. if you get the key to turn...don't even think you might get another chance.

screw driver until tumbler arrives
Wow..
the palm sander hooked to the key worked in 15 seconds. I tried a junkyard tumbler removal by drilling 2 new holes in it as a test, read a post about a mystic locksmith who had a jig. well on the drill press and 4 bits broken i did manage to drill out 2 holes in the correct places to jog a pin thru. This would be very difficult in the car so I opted for something else. Cheers to the palm sander trick! |

No Myth
Sauber Tools Makes a Very simple Alignment Device that allows Fool Proof
drilling out of Mercedes Ignition Lock Cylinders. I've seen the Video of it in action...[Less than 2 Minutes,Cylinder OUT!] BUT that Vanished off the Web? (Conspiracy promoters Believe The Yakkuza bought up all the tools and rights)
