The car is a 1985 grey market 2.3 16. The timing chain broke miles after I bought it and ruined at least one piston, the crank, etc.

I bought a short block (maybe with a head - I can't remember) with rods and crank journals are significantly wider.

Note the tab on the rod bearings are fully outboard rather than slightly inboard on the narrow rod motor. I haven't found wider rod bearings yet.
