Crazy windows and mirrors 99 E300

My windows, seats and mirrors quite often quit working. If I disconnect the battery for a while everything starts working again so I know it's not a wiring failure. Sometimes it's just one widow and one seat. The back windows always work.

What module might be responsible for this behavior? Is there a way to reset everything without disconnecting the battery?

There is a network of 12 computers for the interior CAN, any one of them can cause that issue!

Most common are...read door module(s) or the CL pump.

Testing with volt meter at network connector is the best way to find problem.

How old is your battery? A common issue on W210's is electronic gremlins such as loss of sync settings on windows and sunroof even though the car has enough power to start itself. Any battery over 4 years old is suspect although genuine MB batteries can last as long as 7-8 years. To test the battery it needs to be removed from the circuit and tested with a load tester.

The battery is 3 years old and was purchased from Batteries Plus.
Now that I think of it, the problems did start shortly after I replaced the battery.

It might not be a bad idea to check your battery & ground connections to vehicle. Also, clean the battery terminals & cable ends.

I could be an issue with the coding in one of the modules. I had a 210 ch. once where a module was coded for European specs. Caused a bit of random window and sunroof operation but otherwise normal operation. I cant remember which module it was but most of the body's modules have variant coding that need to be programmed for the car. If nothing else it may pay to have the fault codes and module coding checked. I don't have proof but I suspect unintentional coding changes can occur during battery replacement.
