noisey lifters

i just recently bought a 1979 mercedes 450 sel 6.9 that had sat for 5 years and had never been started because of a faulty ring gear and starter motor. I changed the engine oil and and oil filter then flushed out the radiator and installed a new battery. Filled fuel tank with new fuel then started the engine which started first go. The engine idles well and when revved does not miss. The only problem i have is one hydraulic lifter is quite noisey at start up but seems to quieten when engine warms up. Will the noise from this lifter or lifters disappear over time when the vehicle has been driven consistently

I had a similar issue with my 560SEL, which was leaking oil out of the valve cover gasket, and one of the lifters would tap on start up until warm (and I assume well lubricated). After installing a new gasket and an oil change, the noise went away after a few spirited drives.

My noise went away, and hasn't returned, but I couldn't say the same for your case...
