Anybody out there using CarSoft

Diagnostic system. I've gotten a basic code reader that I use for troubleshooting but feel the need to put something better in the toolbox. Does anyone out there have one? How does it do?

diagnostic scanner

Carsoft 7.4S

I felt a bit frustrated with the stealership in Anaheim Hills when they told me that I needed this and that for my '99 CLK320. I then took the car to a local indy here in Las Vegas. They told me that I needed to replace two units that their computer system flagged, but couldn't give me a price. I decided that I'd put together a system and learn more about this car. After researching this and other sites I decided that Carsoft was the way to go. Purchased the multiplexer with all the cables from China for $99.00. I then purchased an older laptop, with a builtin serial port for $79.00. This is all that's needed to do almost everything that your stealership will do for the same price. I've only used it once, but was able to clear error codes, including the two that the local indy said needed to be replaced/repaired.

I plan to play with it more this week and after exploring all the features, will write up a DIY for anyone that's interested.
