w124 Center Consol Box info needed

I picked a roll-top box at the local yard the other for next to nothing, only because it was in rough shape with no roll-top. I'm pretty confident I can build the roll-top if I can find out the length (front to back) of each slat. If any one can provide me with that info, i'd be greatly appreciated.
Thanks. J.

Console box

The first slat is 17.5 mm and the others are 9 mm each. The slats are glued to some kind of fabric with what looks like contact cement. When I got my box some of the slats were loose but I was able to warm the glue with a heat gun and press the slats back in place.

Edit: The "first slat" is actually #2; #1 has the push-to-open button and latch on it. There are at least 14 of the narrower slats -- I cannot see how far they go back.

Edit: Added pictures.

I wondered how long it would take . . .sharp eyes! The PO had some kind of LED for an aftermarket alarm in that hole. I removed it and, since the wood was ruined anyway by the hole, decided to "make lemonade." I enlarged the hole and mounted a recessed pushbutton switch, then ran the wires up into the glove box and connected them to my garage door opener remote control. To open/close the garage door, I press that button. The recess keeps the button from being accidentally pressed by stuff sitting on the console.

Thanks for the info Jeremy! I'm not sure how I would duplicate the first slat but I'll figure something out. I was also wondering about that hole. I also see that the pieces between the seats and the consol are covered in MBtex, these pieces in my '88 are covered in cloth. I'm considering covering them with wood veneer. Thanks again, really helpful!

I was gonna say it looked like a button. It also looks like a 1/4" TRS(audio jack). That got me "thinking", you could use a 1/4" TRS for an aux input into the stereo. I dunno

The "fry catchers" were given me by Sixto. Originally covered with fabric, they were rather beat up (but considering the price, and I had none at all, I did not complain). I replaced the original fabric with vinyl (not MB-Tex) from my wife's sewing stash, which I then painted dark blue with SEM spray paint to match the interior of my car.

You have my admiration if you can make a roll-top cover for anything. Next time I'm at Pick and Pull I'll keep my eyes open for a top.

That would be a good place for an aux input, as you could put your iPod or whatever in the tray (or box, if you have one).
