ASR/BAS 1993 w124
A few months ago I made a left turn through a deep puddle, and since I guess I was going a little too fast, the water splashed way up. (The car doesn't have an underbody shield.) As soon as the water hit, the two idiot lights came on (the car has traction control, so there are two lights, ASR and BAS). I have continued to drive the car, and limp mode engaged only twice, both times after a hard stop downhill - restarted the car and all was well. Thinking the easiest, cheapist fix was the brake light switch, I changed that but it didn't solve the problem (the old part was dated 1993, so I can rationalize this as preventive maintenance). Next I am going to check the wires from the ABS sensors and clean the wheel sensors. Any thoughts on what the water might have contacted to trigger the dash lights - I find it hard to believe that this was just a coincidence.

Codes are stored & can be read from the EA/CC/ISC computer that controls the ASR portion of those lights.
Pin # 14 of the 16 pin connector. No scanner diagnosis of the ABS system on that year model.
