96 C280 No Juice to the Fuel Pump
Hi All,
I was hoping someone could provide their expertise. My 96 C280 was sitting for 2.5 months. I connected jumper cables, went to start it, and it turned over but wouldn't fire up. I checked the fuel rail in the engine compartment and it was dry. I jacked up the car and noted that I was not getting electricity where the wires attach down at the pump (under the car), so I bought and installed a new Fuel Pump Relay. I still am not getting any electricity where the wires connect to the Fuel Pump. I've checked the female nodes that the Relay plugs into, and they are Hot. Upon checking the other connection (the two-pronged plug just above and to the left of the Relay) - neither of the prongs, female or male, are getting any electricity at all. The key was in the 'on' position at the time. Can anyone help me diagnose this? Thanks, John |

With the key ON there should be 2 pins at the fuel pump relay with power.
Pin # 3 should have power all of the time & pin # 4 should have power when operating the starter. Try jumping from pin 3 to pin 1 & see if the car will start OR if the fuel pump works. Have you check the over-voltage relay next to the fuel computer?
