New transmission still get P0715 after clearing with OBDII. Car only moves if i give it 1/2 throttle and then only very slowly. How to clear properly?

new trans? unless there's a problem with it OR the codes in the trans ecu are still there, p0715 will always come back. good luck, chuck.

To get rid of the code P0 715, you must replace the trans speed sensor(conductor plate) & then have that code erased from the trans computer.

thank you, been out of town. I was able to have someone clear the code through STAR, yet the transmission still does not behave normally. Cleared adaptions, tried adaption, etc. Will not shift from 1st many times, then after a while it shifted into 2nd fine, now it just bucks back and forth.

Does the module need to be flashed or once that error code kicks in a new conductor plate is a must? No error codes come up anymore. and the P0715 was the result of a slipping trans.
thanks

OK, sorry, 2003 E55 W211.

Finally some consistency. Car is now pushing out P2502 and P2503 codes on the trans module. Seems to now slip in 1st before jumping into 2nd them limp mode.

Does anyone know of the SDN (?) needs to be done to get it to work properly or perhaps I have a bad torque converter? Does not seem like the conductor plate is at fault here. I read I can have someone lock it out with the Star program to test the TC????????? Thanks

Check and see if the transmission ECU is full of ATF.

Yeah, I checked it out, bone dry. Read some post on that problem.

Still leaning to a bad torque converter rebuild.

As MBDOC said, the P0715 code usually means a bad speed sensor which is an integral part of the conductor plate above the valve body. It's about a $170 DIY part plus fluids and gaskets and you need to reset the ETC codes with a Star Diagnose System or equivalent to get the trans out of limp home mode. An OBD-II scanner can't do that level of reset.

I've seen this statement by many posters over the years. For the sake of accuracy, and without ruffling any feathers, I'd like to explain how it really is.

The transmission will come out of limp mode as soon as the condition that caused it is rectified (e.g. conductor plate replacement due to faulty speed sensor). The presence of stored fault codes will not affect operation. Current faults are a different story.

P0715 Speed Sensor Code

Hi Gang,
I know this thread is pretty old and if I don't get any answers if I'll start a new one - not sure what the etiquette is....
Anyway, I am getting a P0715 code and have a new Conductor plate and from this code it appears I need to replace a Speed Sensor. I have a Febi PDF (Attchd) telling about replacing the conductor plate and everything is straightforward except it shows 2 Speed Sensors (N2 & N3). Is there anyway to know which is bad or should I just replace both?
I should probably buy both - but Pelican doesn't seem to have these Sensors in Stock. Dealer Only?

You have a 722.6? The P0715 is a generic something is wrong with your transmission code. You need to scan the TCM with a mercedes specific scan tool.

Clearing a P0715 Code

Thx - Yep, it's a 722.6 AT. I'll guess I'll have to find a MB Specific tool...

P0715 is a speed sensor code. N2 and n3 speed sensors are in the conductor plate, not available separately. No need to buy anything else.
