bench testing a fuel pump

I have a 90 300 SEL and have had an issue that I can't seem to figure out. It will run for a few minutes then stall and I cant get it started untill it sits for awhile. I think it may be fuel related so I am starting there. I have removed the fuel pump/filter and accumulator from the car and replaced the filter and accumulator. I would like to test the pump so does anyone know of a simple way to test one? I know I can run 12v to it but I suppose if it will pump gas out of a bucket that really doesn't mean anything. If this don't work I will look at the FP regulator and change that. With no test equipment for one of these it is tough. I have also thought maybe a coil but hard to say. I don't think it is something worn as it only has 75,000 miles on the car and it just started all the sudden so to me that is a failure of something rather than plugs or wires which I don't think would do that anyway.
