W202 instrument cluster

Hi Guys,
I want to change the instrument cluster on my w202 to a sports type. I have the cluster, my question is will the mileage change to the new clusters mileage and if so how would I make the original car mileage appear. Has anyone had any experiance with this. I think the new cluster has low mileage, however it is against the law where I live to change it. And I want the original low mileage in any case. Thanks
It's a 1998 model.
