Cruise control and surging Idle

Hello to all!

I am still dealing with a frustrating and now, dangerous issue.

My idle surges/hunts intermittently in P, N, and drive. Needless to say, in drive , the car wants to surge forward. It may happen all morning and not for the next 2 days.

I've searched the forums and have cleaned ICV, replaced the EHA and ICV with used ones, checked for vacuum leaks, etc. but have a question that I havn't seen:

Will removing the cruisecontrol amplifier and driving without one cause this idle surge/hunt issue?

Nick

Almost evertime I've dealt with an issue with my 95 e320 "Works on and off again (hours to days inbetween occurances) - it has been an eletrical issue with the wires or soldier joints in the fuses, relays, wiring harnesses. Fuel Pumps, AC Heat control, turn Signals, hazzard lights, oil level sender, and cruise control. Many of these things ended out being the insulation on the wiring deteriorating and causing intermitant problems. My thottle actuator wiring look ok....but two of the wires bare in certain spots that cause my cruise control to work 50% of the time. I think a combination of the wires touching each other from flex, vibration, heat, and condensation (along with no insulation) causes the crazy head scratching until you find the right part to replace. I sure did have replaced alot of fuses and relays (OVP, and main engine wiring harness...although it looked like it was going to go) that ended out not being the issue....but I guess it's one less thing. Good luck and let us know what you find.

Spinedoc,
First off, what year and model Benz are you talking about? Our crystal ball is cloudy today

Sounds to me like the dreaded "limp home/ASR" problem. Search under ASR and you will be overwhelmed with problems. I am prominent in many of these postings.

i never read profiles, only posts.

removing the cruise amp won't affect the idle. i'd look at the milliamp draw to the idle motor and see if it's being TOLD to hunt. if the ecu is GIVING orders to idle hunt, then what info is it getting? garbage in garbage out? good luck, chuck.
