What would you pay for ...
Hi everyone:
It's been aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaages since I've been on the forum - good to be back, and hope everyone is doing well. I'm going to leave this fairly open for right now ... given the markets in the Midwest, what would you expect to pay for a 2000 E320 4MATIC with about 27k on the odometer? I appreciate your help!!! Thank you!

If you want some average numbers you might check ebay for completed sales in your area.
My suggestion would be to look for one with more miles. Too often an owner of a very low mileage car is expecting a premium price. Since W210's can last 250K miles with good care, one with 100K is not a problem. Also, even a low mileage car has been subjected to the same ozone and ultra-violet light for 10-12 years as high mileage one. Also, the difference between motivated sellers and someone testing the waters is greater than the average price from area to area. Finally, the major differences between the pre-face lift (1998-1999) and face-lift (2000-2002, -2003 for wagons) is mostly cosmetic except for the NAV system and rear side air bags. My suggestion would be to inspect as many W210's as possible and pick the one best cared for at the lowest price. Just my $0.02.

Thanks for your response, Rich. Agreed...these are good cars, and when I'm ready, hope to buy one from a private seller. I actually had done the eBay w
search earlier, and it was somewhat difficult to estimate as there really wasnt one with comparible mileage. The numbers I saw there compared to the asking price were WAY off. Not really all that interested in this one, but one with 27k is sure to get at least a little attention!

If the car has a well documented history and checks out well I think 10-12k would be appropriate. What is the history with the mileage being so low?
As an example: Mercedes-Benz : E-Class Mercedes-Benz : E-Class | eBay

I didn't get a whole lot of details on the car as the dealer didn't get back to me. From looking at the carfax report on it, it looks like a sitter. The reported mileage of 27,783 was the same in 2003 as it is in 2012 ... that either means the odometer is messed up, or this car wasn't driven for 9 years. Would hate to be the owner of that car ... lots of TLC would be needed to get things up to par again after sitting so long. You're right though - records and history are vitally important. This one has neither, so I think it's a pipe dream that they're going to get the $12.5k they're asking for. But who knows ... someone may come along and plunk it down...stranger things have happened.
