722.3 TV Cable Removal From Transmission

I have an (unknown lineage) 722.3 transmission that was installed in a 380SL and attached to a 380 engine, probably a 1982. I am reading the MB manual refers to a 90 degree turn or a clip for me to squeeze in order to remove this (I am preparing to rebuild this transmission). I have neither - I have a featureless plug into the body of the transmission. My rule zero is not to force anything. Is there a trick to this, or is it just that the O ring is old and it won't come out? Thanks.
