W203 Engine 271 Cam Magnets
Could someone offer advise on Cam Magnets, please. Dealership recently performed Service Campaign 2009100001 which replaces wiring harnes for the cam magnets - but it does not include replacing the cause of the problem, that being leaking cam magnets. Since we do not trust this dealership when they asked us to pay the $200 charge to replace the magnets we declined.
Okay, now we have the car and have done some research, located the cam magnets and they appear have significant oil leaking - so we want to replace. Everything I have seen is these are simple swap out. Am I correct, its a simple swap out? With the exception of the sealant used! Thereby not requiring any resetting of codes. If the answer is yes, I plan on doing this myself for less than half the price. Any advise is greatly appreciated. |

Yes, simple job that can be done at home by most DIYers.
