brake fluid reservoir

hello,

I have just replaced the brake fluid reservoir. On filling it up I have noticed that only one of the compartments has filled up. The other one remains totally empty. Do you know how to get fluid there?

Thank in advance

The reservoir has a divider! You have to go above the MAX point to get fluid to flow to the rear section. If the reservoir is empty you probably have a leak.

The most complex systems can fail in the simplest way.

Thanks for your quick reply. I really appreciate.

A photo to illustrate.

I have no leaks. I just replaced the reservoir altogether and when filling it up I noticed the problem. I wil now go beyond the "max" mark to get liquid on the other compartment, as per your recommendation.

Cheers

I would do a brake flush as well to get rid of any air and remaining old fluid that has entered the system since one chamber was left empty.

The brake system is free of air, so I was lucky there.
I am now struggling to bleed the clutch system. I replaced the master cylinder seals at the same time and the air is hard to get out. I will win eventually though.

Filling up the reservoir to the very top results in the back chamber filling up too, just like daddi pointed out. Thanks again.

ok, so I finally managed to bleed the system. Problem was that the sleeve cylinder bleed hole was clogged, so even if I removed the bleed screw nothing would come out.
I inserted a wire and all of a sudden the liquid started to flow. Nice shower.
The car is now back in bussiness. phew....

Regards
