W124 center console switch bracket removal 1248210071
Pulling the interior of a 92 400E and pulled the center console switch bracket yesterday to access the two top bolts holding the center console.
Anyway, in getting it out I snapped the tab on one end. The part is number 1248210071 it is a glass filled plastic which was obviously to brittle to flex sufficiently. Any pointers for the next one (I'd like to not break the one in the car all the parts are going into). My guess at this point is; Pull off switches remove switches from bracket - small screwdriver inserted next to each side and then they push in towards front of car With switch body removed you can access center console tabs - push in with appropriate tool/screwdriver and the bracket should come free. I did do a search and could not find anything. paul I'll post another thread later on the dis-assembly of the parts car with pictures - name that component, parts to keep as spares, parts people might need.... |

post a pic.. the center console wood is pretty easy to take out, all you need really is a screwdriver.. i think i know what your talking about.. i cracked mine too.. glued it for now.. just go slow and it should be fine.. haha
will just grab another one with switches and everything at the junkyard or you can go to the dealer i guess |

attached a picture (crappy tiny cell phone one at the moment). Its not the wood, that comes off easy enough. Once the wood is off you have the climate control module (no problem there) and then the bracket that holds all the buttons above it (recirc, hazard, rear headrest release, ...).
Thanks for the site you posted, its cheaper than what I found elsewhere searching on the number. Hopefully I wont break the next one. Paul |
