For fluid purists, here are some parts numbers:
Febi Power Steering Fluid Nr. 08972 - available from many online sellers and perhaps local parts shops MB Power Steering Fluid Q 1 46 0001 - available at MB dealer and from some online sellers. I suspect plane/jane power steering fluid is just fine. Referring to post #10 above which in turn points to some instructions in another thread. I agree with most of those instructions, but in my case(1991 300-SEL M103) I found this to work better: - elevate front of car - floor jack is fine - you just need to get the tires of the ground so the wheels can be turned - you don't need an assistant and I am glad I did not start the engine. I filled the Power Steering Fluid Reservoir close to the top, then turned steering wheel to just one side. I then checked the fluid level. A surprisingly large amount of fluid was emptied. It didn't bottom out, but required topping up to keep from going dry. You do not want the reservoir to empty. That will invite air into the system. I gently turned wheel left and right, making many trips to the front to ensure reservoir retained fluid and to top off. This flushes fluid and bleed air from the system. - I've always run mine with the fluid level 3/4" - 1" from the top
