190E front wheel vibration

After changing the brakes and rotors on my 190E, it has developed a intermittant vibration in the front left. It's getting worse. When this began I checked for excessive play in the hub, none apparent. With the wheel installed there is a slight amount of play when the vehicle is raised by tugging on the outer wheel. I'm suspicious of the ball joints, Since these appear to be a pain to change I don't want to throw parts at it. How would I know if they are going south? Any other suggestions? The vibration is most apparrent when coasting in straights, and once it starts it tends to amplify until either brake or accelerate.
Thanks in advance.
Steve

It could be as simple as your tire balance. Try swapping fronts with rears and see if it has an impact. If it changes, then have all 4 re-balanced.

Same thing happend to my 1986 190E 2.3-16 and it turned out to be the left outer tie rod end which was changed. This stopped the vibration a little bit. On further investigation my idler arm bushing also showed some wear and will be changed soon.

Good luck to you!
