First intermittent, now failed seat controls, 2000 C280
At first, both seat controls with go out intermittently. Now they are completely inoperable.
I've searched the archives and the relay in the trunk is the solution but it seems specific to 1999 and older w202s, mostly 1998 and 1999. My car is a 2000 and under the 2'x3' plastic panel in the trunk, I don't see any relays. There is a 5 prong small black relay that is uncovered, at the outside edge of this plastic panel, but changing it makes no difference. So in the 2000 model is this 7 prong relay somewheres else? Thanks, glenmore 2000 C280 2000 C230K 1999 C280 |

mbdoc,
Thanks! I don't know how I missed that relay first time around! I checked the solder joints on the board and there were almost 10 joints that had cracks. Three or four of them looked cracked all the way around so these were probably the ones causing the problem. I did the best I could with what I had. A very fine soldering iron would have been best. The first few weren't going too well and then I remembered the admonition to be sure to use flux and after that the joints went much easier. Plugged the relay back in and it works! Thanks again. glenmore |
