W126 radiator into w123??

Im wanting to transplant a radiator and explanation tank from a '85 300sd into my '78 300cd.

I can't see any reason why it couldn't work. Anybody got any experience with this?

The SD radiator has a different part number than the CD radiator. Additionally it has more ports on it than the CD radiator. The additional port seems to be for the expansion tank so if you can make it fit into the CD's mounts....then it should be ok.

It's alive!!!

Seems to be working.

The rad from the SD is slightly "fatter" but the other dimensions are the same. The two clips that rad are the same width apart. The only thing is, the oil cooler is in a slightly different position now it's about an inch more towards the center of the car. I don't think this will be an issue.

I had o fab a bracket for the expansion tank. I jut used some metal stock and some self drilling screws from slowes.
