I went a bit further on drain cleaning on my 190E. I went in thru the blower fan compartment below the windshield, removed the fan motor and blower wheels. Then, removed the blower inner housing.

Discovered the inner housing clips that hold it together were rusted and broken. The assembly was just hanging there.

Further investigation revealed the condensate drain itself was plugged solid with mud and leaves. There was water in there, and it was jet black and smelly.

Went to the junk yard and got enough clips to re-do the housing. I've already done this with the heater core replacement, so I knew what clips to look for on the parts cars.

Snaked a small wire with the tip bent down to prevent puncturing the rubber drain lines, and finally got water to start running out. I ran water from my garden hose down these drains for awhile until the water ran clear, and continued running the wire in and out of the lines until everything was clear.

Put it all back together, and was rewarded with MORE air blowing from the vents, and now, the air quality in the car has improved drastically. I used to have a blast of funky air when turning on the heater system.

My A/C currently does not work. I'm patiently waiting for a parts car to come along with what I need to fix mine.

I would run the A/C unit directly ,bypassing the relay with a jumper and check if it continues to run. the klima Relay or the pressure sensors at the Dryer / accumulator could be one cut off source .

What a mess. She took it to her cousins shop and now one of the mechanics are saying it needs a "pop-off" valve? I cant even find one, nor even know what it is! They replaced the HVAC unit in the dash and that was not the problem, which I never thought it was. They are wanting to replace this and that. They are good on cars and body repairs, but I dont think they are A/C pros on German cars.

We went the other day to get some things out of it (still there at the shop) and he raised the hood to show me what it was and you could tell they had spewed all of the freon out of it and it was full when we took it down there to start with. I dont know how much they are going to charge, I think we are going after it tomorrow and tell them not to worry about it and take it to a Mercedes shop where someone actually knows what it may be. Mmm mmm mmm. What a mess.

I think thats what we are going to do tomorrow. I hope they havent ruined even more things that was not even the issue. My uncle said he would ask them to put in the freon that they blew out of it since it was full when we took it in.

Have these guys evacuate the system first. Then, add the freon.

You'll have a real mess if it's being done wrong.

I dont know what happened. We went and got the car earlier. He said they didnt blow out all of the freon. He said something about it only blew some out when they did a pressure test or something. I dont know.

Guess we will just wait until we get a chance and take it to a Mercedes tech to let them check it. He has already replaced the control panel (which is what he said it was originally, but it wasnt). What an ordeal.
