I'm about to do a brake job on the 1991 560SEL. My local parts store has this tool, the Lisle Tools Quad Pad Spreader

Question: would this tool be beneficial in replacing the brake pads?

looks like it would make it easier. I've been looking at tools like this. Instead of using a C clamp and only doing one piston at a time, this may work out better

Since the 560 has 2 piston calipers, I don't see it being much benefit. As a professional Mercedes mechanic, I've never had much difficulty retracting the pistons and have no special tool for the task.

I'm thinking this tool would be a good investment for brake jobs. the Samstag tool looks great, but at $221, a bit more than I'm willing to spend.

I've been using the same C clamp and piece of plywood (to spread the load) for years !
