I pushed it out from the rear, but I had to remove the two split Teflon rings. I used a rubber mallet and a piece of wood.
About the lip-seal tool, make sure you sand the outer edges, so you do not cut the lip-seal. Martin |

I find no rivets for the hidden seal in my K1 but there was a retaining ring instead so I removed the aluminium in the bottom and find a seal.

If it's not to much trouble is it possible to upload a picture where to put the three fingers plastic piece since the plastic in my transmission had fallen of it's original place and I can't find where it belongs. I am going for a short holiday so I will make a short halt in my project.

About the little three-finger plastic piece
Okay, The plastic piece may look very confusing, but in order for it to fit in the transmission.
Remember, I've not started to assemble mine yet! When I get to that portion it will be 100% clear.Since I did take lots of pictures with a High-Resolution camera mounted on a tripod I can see many things in fine detail. So here goes: You have to look at the posts where we were talking about EPC, and I uploaded the Mercedes file with the line drawings and part numbers. Take a look at the drawing that has parts 60-64, and the plastic finger part is part 127. Mercedes calls the clutch pack "outer disk", and ATSG calls the clutch pack "Brake B3" for reference. Looking at the plastic finger piece, the middle finger has an alignment tab on the other side that runs the length of the finger for the most part. The tab faces down in the deep rectangular opening in the case, and the tab is closer to the left of the opening(look at picture 4277). Do note the fingers point facing the rear of the transmission(note picture 4278, and my grip with the pliers in both pictures) Remember, the "outer disk" clutch pack needs to be in place(parts 60-64) need to be in place for the finger plastic piece to fit. Plus, you will see the openings in the case where it will fit as you can see it in picture 4288 where it was removed from. I hope this will clarify the mystery of the three-finger plastic piece. Is it this same piece? As you can see, the clutch is very worn out.

No I disassembly the outputshaft you see in the picture. It must be the KS clutch pack mine was also really worn out there is a picture of one of the friction plates too. When I think about it when I have made a kick-down the transmission has slipped must be the KS clutch pack.

I looked at my rear output shaft, and I guess the inside split ring is removed to get access the o-ring?
thank you, Martin |

Then there is a split ring to remove and then the ring gear is loose. after that there is a smaller split ring that's hold the aluminium support ring in place have to take away that one too. After you have done that the aluminium ring is ready to go but it not loose I had to gently tap with a rubber hammer. After this steps you are where the o-ring is. The inner race of the one-way clutch can be pried out but I did not do this,. (in the center of the unit) |
