1997 E420 heater not working

Just had head work done on the W210 and now have no heat being generated either from the "EC" position or the when the "AC" is on. And of course the mechanic is claiming no responsibility as "the head work should not have affected the climate control system".

What could this be from? "AC" seems to be fine.

Ideas?

If you're not getting heat, you either have low coolant or the heater valve is closed.

Coolant level is fine.

Closed heater valve? How would I get it back open? Is this a missed connection due to motor work? Is this a climate control problem and possible replacement needed? Perhaps a lubrication issue? Wierd that it happened after the motor work. I am confused.

Do you have do any removal of the A/C system to get to the heads. Why would the heater valve all of a sudden be closed?
