Replacing a gorilla knob..HELP!
Long story short-On my1975 240D, I broke the plastic glow plug/start/stop knob, begin using vice grips, probably marred or bent shaft.
Step one fix-pulling it loose-won't happen. Two very stong men have tried. What do I do next? I will do anything to keep "Old Blue" running as I have had her since new and she has more than 900,000 miles on her and never let me down, with the exception of the plastic knob...Please give me a fix I can do myself (I'm a 62 year old lady) or be able to tell my mechanic..Thanks! Hi Carole, check on the injection pump and make sure that the lever which the starting cable attaches to will move freely. Im thinking something is binding up at the injection pump end, or the cable is seized.
Im very glad to hear that you have had the car so long and intend to keep it, I love hearing stories like that.
