86 190 E windscreen wiper doesn't work?
A co-worker of mine has a 86 190 E, the windscreen wiper stopped working yesterday (in the rain no less). She asked me to look at it since I own a MZB, and I'm baffled. I can not hear the motor engaging when the switch is thrown. I've checked the fuse, even replaced it. The fuse looked like it was pushed down below the connector. I replaced the fuse with a new one and worked for one second then ceased to function. What are the chances the motor has seized up? Or could this be a bad relay or connection? Any ideas appreciated.

If it worked briefly when you replaced the fuse, I expect it's the connection in the fuse box. The car is quite old, and fuse connections do corrode, the exact thing happened to my wiper fuse recently. Remove the fuse, (check it didnt blow) and clean the connections with some fine emery paper / sandpaper. Putting a voltmeter across the two terminals with the fuse removed should show 6v or 12v depending on wiper switch position. If there's nothing there, it's not the problem! If you've got voltage, at least it's not the power supply or the switch, but could be the motor. They're quite bulletproof though.
