Can anyone verify if this CL ad is correct?

Hi-
I am relatively new to the MB world, and was hoping one of you could help me out. On craigslist near me, the following ad is running:
1980 mercedes benz
Selling this 1980 mb 280c. Coupe, currently runs and registered but makes a knocking noise this iss a 6 cylinder automatic asking $500 for info call 805 8685390

Could someone look at the photos on CL and tell me if there is any chance this is actually a 1980 car? I have a w115 diesel from 1968, and it looks an awful lot like a w114 car from the early/mid-1970s. Thanks.

My 1987 300TD wagon was sold and my 2003 W210 E320 wagon was totaled (sheds tear).

It's a 114 coupe. The rubber bumpers date it from 1974 to 1976 (last year produced). The 280C came with a double overhead cam inline six cylinder engine, the M110. Performance was lackluster due to emissions requirements in the mid seventies.

Thanks for the info. It is in the sellers best interest if it is a 1975 or earlier car, because they no longer need to be smog checked in CA. If it is a 1976 or later, it does need a smog check, and consequently less interesting to me. Thanks again.
