ACRONYM LEGEND PLEASE!

Ok guys, I'm no schlubb at figuring out many acronyms but honestly, there are some that I simply cannot figger out!

Is there such an animal as an "Acronym Legend" anywhere on the forum OR the web? Please don't say "just ask" because there are times I'm reading a thread and come across one that stumps me and don't want to have to jump over to post a new thread inquirey on an acronym 'decode'.. Thanks for any insight here

(Oh man! Just what I DIDN'T want someone to ask!!)

The REASON for my remark above is that there are times I'm just perusing the thread and come across one and I don't feel it appropriate to stop, go to a post a new thread asking what a silly 2 - 3 letter acronym is! I guess I should be keeping a list that I can put out here to find out their meanings..

But...I recently came across 'HG' and 'OVP'? Anyway, that's only two that are fresh on my mind - there are several others...

Thanks for your help

Hg = head gasket

Ovp= over voltage protection

I believe there is a list, not exactly sure if it's this forum. It doesn't hurt to ask in the thread if you need clarification.

Most sets of characters have many associated acronyms. Just type the acronym into google and it will come back with a list. Scroll down the list for those related to automobiles.

I have been on here for a while, and some still stump me.

I Did the Google serch for IIRC in the search tab above, and got the above link.

If you just type IIRC into google (not the Peachparts search engine) the second hit gives you the definition.

Just to clarify -- vacuum readings are in millimeters measured on tube filled with mercury. Hg is the chemical symbol for the element mercury.

Wait a minute, OVP stands for Ohne VerPackung, which means in German that no box is provided. you see this on sites when buying poarts.

Oh -- but wait!!! MAYBE that's the point of the thread~!

That there are confusing acronyms out there used by MB enthusiasts who drive PKWs, er, passenger cars, right?

Sadly there are multiple abbreviation legends out there and it's even worse in German.

Roy, time to make another list, lol.
