Question loud hoooing noise

Hi,
I have a 1990 560SEC with 88,000 miles. Recently, it has started to make this strange hoooing noise, and it is quite loud. It doesn't happen all the time, and it doesn't sound like a bearing noise. Could it have something to do with the exhaust system? Thanks for your input.
Max

I would suspect a problem with the air pump in the emission system.

Are you sure?

That you weren't just driving past the University of Virginia Hoos stadium at the time they scored a touchdown?

At what speed do you hear it? Is it a "woo woo woo" or "hooooooooooooooo"?

Hi Richie,
Thanks for your question. It is a hoooooooooing sound. And it seems as though it is coming from the lower right side of the engine, probably underneath. It seems to happen
after the engine warms up. After using the car, if I let it idle for a while, the noise stops.
Thanks,
Max
