ignition control unit

i was told by a shop that i need a new ignition control unit. i have a 1986 560sl. When i first start out it has good power. but the longer you drive it seem to lose power. Do i need a new ignition control unit. Also, my car still has the steel injectors in it. Should i put new brass injectors in it .
