85 500 SEL idles at 1,500 RPM

85 500 SEL idles at 1,500 RPM

My German spec 85 500 SEL, 52,000 miles and owned since new, has just developed this fault. Its OK on start up but as soon as its warm it refuses to idle normally. Any ideas on what I should check?
