best basic manuals for 87 300E

Gentlemen-who makes the best basic manual? for instance the best way to pull out the speedo, change valve guide seals... Also where is the best place to get it? Is the MB CD too difficult for novice-intermediate? Haynes?
Thanks. Others can use this advice also.

How's things in Cow Town? I used to live there, now in Austin. The CD is really pretty good. It's so simple, it's easy. They show an exploded pix and say "bolt # 9, remove-replace". Haynes makes a 124 manual that's good too ($24). It's hard to find, Performance Products sells them. They are for the English market, but they will work for US versions too.

I just did a water pump on my 300SE, (same motor) and used both. I actually found the CD to be easier to follow.

Haynes manual should be available at any big name parts shop. If not in stock they should be able to order it for you. Do not expect it to be complete. It should work until you decide if you could use the CD. I have a Euro model and the one that I got is not for my car but it has good info on my motor including tune up specs.

How good is the CD on ebay that is "similar" to the MB one but "better" and costs $20 instead of $150? Are there used MB CDs for sale?

Not sure the one for the W126 does not claim to be better than the Mercedes but that it is "similar" that could mean it is close or not good at all. Has any one bought one? I would love to find a European version that covered my w126 280se.

I bought one for the W124, and I think it IS the MB version with a couple of added items. I don't know how they get away with it.
