Speedo removal

I want to put the original KM speedo face back on my W126 euro car. I can get the panel out just fine, but when I look back there, there are tons of wires. Is unhooking all that and hooking it back up something a DIYer can do or should I leave this to a pro? Also, were exactly is the temperature readout "box" when looking at the back of the panel, I need a new readout. Thanks for any help.

Not sure whether your instrument panel is the same as my W123, but the wires behind the instrument panel can be pulled off and reinstalled easily. Shouldn't cause any confusion. Just make sure that the oil pressure gauge connection is tighted well, else you'll get a warm oily lap when you start her up....
