My 190E 2.6 needs a new radiator (leaking from the lower core).I removed the trans lines, fan shroud clips, all the hoses, and everything I could see holding the AC condenser to the radiator, but they are still attached to each other at the bottom somehow. Do they need to come out together e.g. discharge the AC and disconnect the lines. Or is there a way to remove just the radiator by itself. Can't see how without removing the front valance and bumper for access??? Anyone been there and done that?

you have to remove the ft. bumper. dsconnect the outside temp sensor from the tag area. remove the 13mm nuts from behind the cover, 2 on each end. then you can see the 2 screws that hold the condensor to the radiator. good luck, chuck.

Front bumper does not need to come off. There is another bolt on the bottom right and bottom left portion of the condenser that holds it to the radiator. You can remove the aux fans (4 screws) to get it out of the way if you need to, but its not necessary. I have done this job < a year ago....I have also removed the condenser without taking out the radiator.....only thing with removing the condenser without the radiator is that the driver side headlight had to come out

Ooohh.. a 2.6. I've never changed a radiator in one, but I came close to buying one some years ago. I remember looking down in the front of that engine. I have a 300E which is already tight with that same basic engine in there. I can't imagine tackling this job. I wish I could offer some suggestions, but I guess all I can do is give you some encouragement. No matter how tough a job looks as you go into it, if you perservere, you will conquer it. All this said, I can't imagine that you would need to recover the refrigerant and remove the condensor. SURELY you can remove enough stuff to move it forward out of the way. Recovering and recharging should be avoided at all cost IMHO. Best of luck with it.
