I have been trying to break loose an oxygen sensor in the left manifold of my truck. I have used pb blaster to no avail so far. Wanted to check if someone might have some suggestions, that I can try. I definited don't want to force it out with the threads. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!!

Try A Small Propane Gas Torch , [Gently] With Correct size Wrench ,

If you can still start it, let it run about five minutes, then try again, obviously, being very careful. If it still won't budge, pour cool water on just the sensor, then try again. Keep trying at two minute intervals as it's cooling.

Hi, Have you managed to Fix Your Problem ,Yet !!

Yeah! I did get the bank 1, sensor out. I played out the info I picked-up on about patience. I sprayed it. Then I used some tapping vibration for a while. I then would spray it, and leave it overnight. When I tried to remove it today, it made a loud pop noise. It unscrewed right on out. I never used the torch at all. I drove it about 15 miles or 20 & the check engine light came on again. I used the Can on it, and the bank 2 is defective. I left the under pan off, in lieu of, this. I knew I would probably be looking at replacing both the inbound 02 sensors. I am happy to be able to solve the problem this way, because I am saving about 2400 dollars. That is what I was quoted from dealer. There was actually a recall on these trucks. Toyota was to stand by the sensors for 90K miles. Mine went out just a while back, but I only have 39K on my 2002 truck. I talked to the dealer on getting fixed, but they said toyota had a date on the fix, as well. Anway I appreciate your advise and help on the hang-up removing them. I think the PB Blaster is top notch on penetrating metal, and the can is cool. You don't need a nozzle on it. It will spray an arrow of a jet stream!!

If you can get some Aerokroil penetrant, spray it on, let it set a few minutes and then use a drift if necessary to transfer some SOLID blows with a BFH! If it doesn't come loose after that, it will take the blue flame wrench (acetylene torch.)

Also, if at all fittable, use a box end wrench for a good solid grip on it.

Kroil is awesome, helped me remove the block heater from my SD about a month ago without much hassle. Just required some soaking over a few days.

There are six pointed combination wrenches around too, they are hard to find but do bite a bit harder on six pointed fasteners like O2 sensors.

Remember that anti seize upon reinstall...

Yep, I've got a six-point combo that I bought specifically for O2 sensors. Makes a great "impact" wrench with a rubber mallet.

Oh! Don't forget the anti-sieze compound! It's a savor, if you ever need to go back there again. There is a difference, and you need the correct type on the sensors.

just an fyi guys, autozone does rent an o2 sensor socket set.

Well, I got the green light on the 02 sensor replacement outcome. I decided to go for breakfast at a favorite place about 20 or so miles from where I reside. I had the cpu reset and ventured out. Before I would have the nasty check engine light resurface at about 10 or so miles on the road. Yesterday, going there and back I didn't get a return on the little icon glowing, lol!! It's the only issue I have encountered with it. It's always been garage kept & with 40K actual miles on it...it's just like new yet. I don't need it much anymore, and have been pondering on maybe selling it. It still shows to be worth a nice pocket of coin.
