Headlamp adjustment?
This summer I purchased a 2009 CLK350. I have had no problems with it until now. With it getting darker earlier I am using my headlight more. I have noticed that when I go down even a small hill that my light beams almost seam to low when I get to the bottom. I have a blind spot about 100 feet out. I know this may be from the short wheel base but with all the safety features built into these cars I would think they would have planned for this.*
I have the xenon headlamps. Should they adjust for this or is the automatic adjustment just for the weight you may have in your trunk? I have had cars with short wheel bases before and never had this type of problem. Should I just adjust the headlamps up? Thanks, Domenick |

Sounds more like an adjustment issue with the level sensor at the rear sway bar

That's the first thing I would do. It's certainly simple enough. |

Check the owners manual, my xenon equipped 97 SL has the procedure there.
Mine also has front and rear height sensors. The short story is to make the headlight centers / height on a wall then looking where the hot spot / cutoff lands. Be careful making the adjustments, these lights are very bright but have a tightly controlled beam pattern. Get them a bit too high and oncoming drivers will be blinded. |

Open the hood and look at the tops of the headlight assemblies. You should see a built-in bubble level and two hex shaped knobs. If properly adjusted the bubble will be centered. The knobs are for horizontal and vertical adjustment just like most cars.
If the procedure is not in your manual, it involves making some marks on a wall with the car parked close and then moving back about 25' and examining the pattern. Obviously, it must be done on a level surface. If you have a suitable place to check/make the adjustment and need the procedure let me know.
