If its cold, and your car's not warm...

If its cold, and your car's not warm...and you change the oil, and let it drain for like 30 minutes....once you refil it, it takes time for the oil to settle, otherwise you'll have the problems you faced. I've had a simliar situation in the past, and have never changed the oil with a cold engine again...
