Cabin filter change on W220/ 2000 S430
Web Master please post with cabin filter change links.
I recently changed the cabin filters on my W220/ 2000 S430. I had reviewed the links and found them to be quite informative and helpful but I was unable to find one specific to the W220 type vehicle. I was a bit worried after reading some of the posts that talked about how hard you had to pull on the glove box door to remove the glove box unit to access the filters. I purchased my replacement filters at a local O'reily's Auto Parts for $27 and prepared my self for the wrestling match I was sure I would encounter!
Here is the good part!
EASY JOB!!!! 4 Phillips screws, (I used a shorty #2 Phillips screwdriver) 2 in the top of the glove box and 2 under the black rubber covers (I used a small, flat blade screwdriver to pry them up.) on the floor of the glove box and the whole unit slipped easily from the dash! No need to unscrew the 2 rubber bumpers on the face of the box near the top for the door. Next, I simply unclipped the wire from the light which allows complete removal of the box. It is still attached to the door open button by the cable but there is plenty of room to work. Next slip the white bar on the heater box down to unlatch the access door and remove the filters. Reverse the procedure to button every thing back up! I took my time, and was very careful and it took all of 15 minutes for the entire job.
So, save your money for cool wheels or something and change those cabin filters yourself!
Good Luck,
HARFEND
