W124 Rear Subframe Bushings? - PeachParts Mercedes-Benz Forum

Hey everyone,

I am about to start in on the rebuild of my 124's rear end. I've already got new shocks on and a box of new links.

That leaves, the four subframe bushings and the lower control arm bushings.

For the rear position subframe bushings I've read people have used a sport line bushing kit,

Part Number 202-350-34-08:

Has anyone done this? Is it a "drop in" replacement? Is anything outside of that kit required for this position?

Is there a kit for the front position like this as well?

get a large crowbar and a straight ram hydraulic jack to remove then with some wooden spacers. Or make a screw plate contraption to use as a puller. They are tight in there.

there are no subframes in the front of your 124

I wont be doing the work in this case. I let the shop do the subframe bushings. They are pretty affordable labor wise. The only charged $160 for my W126 subframe bushings. Can't argue with that price. They did my 190E's as well.

On the 124, the rear subframe has four mounts, two in the front of it and two in the rear of it. The kit I posted is for the rear position. I was wondering if there was a sport line/upgrade bushing for the front position of the rear subfame.

oh - man for 160 id jump on it too, the front bushings are also available in sportline, and the front ones are the most worn out too.

Anyone have a part number on those front ones? I couldnt seem to find it. I found a
124 350 03 41 for my 300D
124 350 04 41 for the 129's...

It looks like the rear sportline bushings are also used on the 190E 16V. So logically the 16V front's would be the correct part number which just so happens to be the correct for my car anyway LOL..

03 is the front? or 04?

Only rear bushings different for sport/standard chassis - 129 351 14 42 (sport) and 124 351 02 42 (standard).
The front ones different only for Taxi-version: 124 350 00 41 (Taxi) and 124 350 03 41 (standard).

The rear Sportline bushings have been superceded to the new 202 part number. A different tool is needed for installation, but yes, it works fine. Done this on several of my cars. The original Sportline rear/large bushings are NLA.

The front bushing kits used to have two different bushings for standard (non-taxi) cars... -03-31 had short tab, and -04-41 had tall-tab bushings. However, the -04-41 kit contents have been changed to include the same "short tab" bushings as the -03-31 kit, and sadly the "tall tab" front bushings are NLA. I just tried to order them and they superceded to the other type. Dave is NOT happy about that.

Dunno what the "taxi" kit is like, sorry.

Following Dave's website I did the 202 part number "Sportline" rear bushings on my '87 300D a few years ago, I bought the bolts, bearing plates, and mounts from the dealer, worked perfectly. IIRC the "Sportline" mounts were actually like $5-10 cheaper than the standard mounts.

Just for info:
The 124 350 04 31 kit is for gasoline models and 124 350 03 31 is for diesel ones.
Taxi kit include strengthened bushings.

"Taxi-version" (S.A. code 450 - taxi international and 803 - Berlin taxi) included MB-Tex upholstery, reinforced seats, taxi sign light, taxi alarm system etc.
