560sl cooling

After my 1986 560sl gets warmed up to temp of about 80C, the coolant temp will continue to climb to about 110C. If I put the defrost on it will stay between 80 and 90. Used to be fine, always around 80C. Coolant level ok. Does this regardless of outside air temp. Appreciate any ideas? Thanks, rob thomas

Try a new thermostat first.
