Restitching convertable top, what type thread?

[97 SL320]

Any idea what type of thread to use when restitching a convertible top?

The car in question is a 97 SL3250 R129, roof color is black.

The fabric is in usable condition with only one thin spot between the back / side window and some fraying around the rear lip. All 3 plastic windows are still completely clear. The major issue is that the stitching on the back half is falling apart. I don't plan on using the top much if at all, I just don't want it to fall apart in storage.
