Hi Guys,

I was wiggling out my Idle Control Valve (to clean it) and I snapped off the brittle hose fittings shown below. I've searched on the parts catalog but can't find out what these are for....or even how to buy them.

Does anyone know? They are right below the ICV on the 560SEL engine.

they are thermo switches for various vacuum items. easily id'ed by the color they are. maybe even here at peachparts. probably about 25-30 for both. good luck chuck.

One is the EGR vac control and one is the Charcoal/regen control. I disabled both of them on mine....

Yes, that seems to be a good plan. I have a rough idle and I'm going through all of the steps to try and clean it up.

I don't think EGR vacuum or C/Regen control would have any effect on that, would they? If not, I'll call it a day and paint over both of them with gasket sealant.

The gas engines are very sensitive to vac leaks. I replaced ALL seals/o-rings/hoses under the air cleaner on my engine, but made the mistake of buying cheap air hoses instead of original parts, so while my idle is lower/better, its still a bit rough from some minor leaks of those hoses. I'll sadly be re-replacing some of those this winter to cure it once and for all.

Do a search for the screen name CamelotShadow they use a hair dryer to soften the hoses.

You can repair this with epoxy and a spray can red straw ( a pen tube works too if you have room ) . Use the tube to align the broken ends and prevent epoxy from blocking the path. Don't push the tube too far into the port at is might interfere with the operation.

Also, to extract the broken parts, cut the hoses otherwise the stubs may break.
